CHABAB TETOUAN
The « Chabab Tetouan » orchestra was founded in 2012 in Tetouan, a city where the andalusian music was the most preserved in Morocco.
The orchestra directed by Fahd Ben Kiran, is composed by young singers and musicians from Tetouan with solid musical background.
Drawing its origin from the oriental arab music, this musical style has developped in the andalusian territory enriched with what the different cultures living in the iberic peninsula such as the berbers, arabs, Africans, copts and Andalusians of which Morocco has become the fundamental heir.
While ensuring the continuity of this art, the orchestra aspires to a universal vocation enriched by the artistic contributions of other musical schools.
The instruments of « Chabab Tetouan » orchestra are the rbâb, a two-cord monoxyle Vielle, the oud, the violin, the qanun, the tar, a small drum surrounded by copper pins and the darbuka. Despite its recent creation, the “Chabab Tetouan” orchestra actively brought its contribution to this music as it is recognized to be one of the major actors of the traditional music in Morocco.
During six years of existence, this orchestra enriched the Andalusian moroccon musical library and participated in the promotion of this traditional and enchanting music through its numerous tours nationally and internationally.
